Grilled Shrimp The 2009 "Jumper" Savignon Blanc
Why I Like This Pairing:
Imagine a Sauvignon Blanc with crisp flavors of gooseberry, passion fruit combined with a snappy acidity paired with the succulent flavors of barbequed shrimp fresh off the barbie. Simplicity always works and this shrimp dish is a great example. The mild sweet flavor of the shrimps are complemented with the subtle taste and texture of the coriander. Add the Jumper Sauvignon Blanc and you've got a winning combination.
The Recipe
Coriander Shrimp Serves 4 as an entrée Ingrediants 1 pound Prawns, peeled and deveined, tails intact 1 lemon, cut into wedges Coriander & Pepper Paste 1 bunch coriander leaves roughly chopped 7 cloves garlic, roughly chopped 2 teaspoons black peppercorns 2 teaspoons white peppercorns 2 teaspoons salt 2 tablespoons lemon juice 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil Method:- To make the Pepper & Coriander Paste: place all the ingredients in a food processor and blend into a coarse paste. Toss the prawns in the paste and marinate for about 20 minutes. Heat a barbecue or char-grill plate. Place the Prawns on the barbecue and cook for 1-2 minutes until well coloured, then turn and cook for another minute or two until they are just opaque all the way through.
